Doris Schroeder, human rights do not derive from human dignity. Schroeder states that human rights must be separate from human dignity for three reasons: First, the justification paradox which is the concept that dignity does not solve the justification problem for human rights; instead it worsens it in secular societies. Second, Kantââ¬â¢s cul-de-sac: the notion that if human rights are based on Kantââ¬â¢s concept of dignity rather than theist grounds, those rights would lose their universal validity. Third, hazard by association: human dignity is more controversial than the concept of human rights, especially between aspirational dignity and inviolable dignity (Shroeder, 2012). While this creates a perfect case for the separation of human dignity from human rights, it is not a strong enough argument. From another perspective, rights, defined in ââ¬Å"Western traditionâ⬠are theorized as ââ¬Å"protecting interests, or as the normative control of a sovereignâ⬠, but in terms of human rights, ââ¬Å"human rights are grounded in human dignityâ⬠(Van Duffel, 2013, p. 647). Human dignity is the foundation which other human rights build upon. These are clear cut. In other words, one either has them or doesnââ¬â¢t, no middle ground. These rights are grounded in the basic idea that one has them simply because one is human. And, because of this notion, this would also suggest that only humans have human dignity ââ¬â which is protected through human rights (Van Duffel, 2013). In response to Doris Schroeder, Peter Schaber argues all three points are not convincing. For the justification paradox, ââ¬Å"any religious understanding of dignity is just one among many other understandings of dignity. Schroeder mentions five different concepts of human dignity of which only one is based on religious convictionsâ⬠(Schaber, 2014). The merit pay of US has reveled that it has shown an increase in the learning capacity of the student that may be equivalent to three weeks of schooling in an additional manner. The average of four years with the merit pay system has shown that the amount ranged from $26 to $20,000. The amount in the award system ranges from $2,500 to $3,000 and is seen that there are small awards for the merit pay programs in developing countries as well. the training that is received from the Teacher Incentive Fund has shown that it has a positive effect on the performance pay program (Liang Akiba, 2015). The teachers union that is present in United Kingdom is known as National Union of Teachers (NUT), which looks after all the educational policies and the remuneration of teachers in the country. The campaign Stand up for Education ensured that the political parties of the country will be pressurized so that the demands are all fulfilled by the state. It included the focus of the teachers that will be done based on the dedicated time, which will not put extra pressure on the administration. It will also ensure that the schools will plan and prepare the lessons well in advance so that the progress of the pupils can be assessed in a better manner, which will help in better management of the schools.
